December 15, 2009.
We are saddened to announce the passing of Prof. Dr. Sc. Greta Pifat-Mrzljak, scientific advisor at the “Ruđer Bošković” Institute and member of the Croatian Biophysical Society, on Friday, December 11, 2009.
Greta Pifat-Mrzljak has been an active member of HBD since its inception. She organized ten Summer Schools of Biophysics, which were co-organized by our Society, and which were also financially supported by UNESCO (more on the UNESCO link). Through her activities, our Society became known worldwide, for which we are grateful. As a confirmation of her exceptionally high-quality long-term activities, Greta Pifat Mrzljak received the prestigious “Emily M. Gray” award from the American Biophysical Society in September 2009 for her outstanding contribution to the promotion of scientific research and the development of educational programs in the field of biophysics. It was at that time that the jubilee 10th Summer School of Biophysics was held.
We sincerely thank Greta Pifat-Mrzljak for this, and all the other activities she has promoted and entrusted to our Society.
Greta Pifat-Mrzljak's final farewell will be on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 1:20 PM at the Crematorium in Mirogoj. We express our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.
