The annual meeting of the Croatian Biophysical Society will be held on Friday, December 9, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ruđer Bošković Institute.
Lecture
V. Svetličić: Atomic force microscope (AFM) and marine biophysics
Agenda:
1. Election of the working presidency of the Assembly
2. President's report on the Company's activities
3. Financial report of the Company Secretary
4. Report of the Supervisory Board and Court of Honor
5. Election of the President and the bodies of the Society

Candidates for President should present their program of work in the Society for the coming period at the Annual Assembly.
Please be sure to attend the work of the Assembly, because we need a quorum for elections.

Atomic force microscope (AFM) and marine biophysics
Vesna Svetlicic
Methods using the scanning probe microscope show a greater diversity than any previously used microscopic method. They are attractive for fundamental research as well as for routine testing of materials, since they are local, non-destructive and applicable under very different conditions. Their application unites scientists from various disciplines (physics, chemistry, biology, biophysics, materials science) in researching phenomena on the nanometer scale.
Using the example of my own research (Group for Bioelectrochemistry and Surface Painting), I will show the application of the Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) in the investigation of biophysical processes in the sea and activities in the establishment of marine biophysics as a new discipline.
