Abstract

Colloquium of the Croatian Biophysical Society and the Lipoprotein Group

The structure of the cell membrane at different concentrations of cholesterol was investigated using single-molecule epifluorescence microscopy. Translational diffusion of the single-copy transmembrane and lipid (GPI)-linked MHC class II protein, I-Ek, has been used as an indicator of changes in cell membrane structure. At all concentrations of cholesterol, the diffusion of the above-mentioned molecules can be described by Brownian motion.
