At the regular Assembly of the Croatian Biophysical Society (HBD), held on May 25, 2026 at the Ru\u0111er Bo\u0161kovi\u0107 Institute in Zagreb, Lucija Toma\u010di\u0107, PhD<\/span><\/strong> from the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, gave a lecture Binary karyotypes as a universal evolutionary pattern in cancers. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the second part of the hybrid program, important decisions were made by the Assembly, awarding prominent scientists who have contributed to the domestic and international scientific community with their work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

HBD Lifetime Achievement Award <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Po prvi puta u povijesti Dru\u0161tva dodijeljena je\u00a0Nagrada za \u017eivotno djelo\u00a0HBD-a\u00a0prof. dr. sc. Janku Heraku, prof.emer.<\/strong>\u00a0(1937. \u2013 2025.).\u00a0 Nagrada je dodijeljena za vrhunski znanstveni doprinos, utemeljenje suvremene biofizike u Hrvatskoj, vizionarsko vo\u0111enje Dru\u0161tva te me\u0111unarodnu afirmaciju na\u0161e znanosti. Njegov bogati \u017eivotni opus predstavlja trajnu ba\u0161tinu koja ostavlja neizbrisiv istra\u017eiva\u010dki, nastavni i izdava\u010dki trag.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New honorary members of HBD<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

By decision of the Assembly, the following distinguished professors were elected honorary members of the Society:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Dr. Jasminka Brnjas-Kraljevi\u0107<\/span>, <\/strong>as one of the founders of biophysics in Croatia, who, through her many years of scientific, teaching and organizational activities, has made an indelible contribution to the development of this interdisciplinary branch of science and to the promotion of the goals of the Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Dr. Davor Jureti\u0107, emeritus professor.<\/span> <\/strong>for his exceptional contribution to the reputation of the Society over decades of cutting-edge research in the fields of biophysics, bioenergetics, and bioinformatics. His dedicated teaching, mentorship of new generations, and uncompromising promotion of scientific excellence and ethics were particularly highlighted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
