ALEKSANDRA RA\u0110ENOVI\u0106<br>Ecole Polytechnique F\u00e9d\u00e9rale de Lausanne, Switzerland<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" data-block-type=\"core\">Date and time<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">Friday, February 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" data-block-type=\"core\">Location<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">Lecture hall, III wing, Institute of Physics, Bijeni\u010dka 46, Zagreb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" data-block-type=\"core\">Abstract<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">As part of the ESF project &quot;Network for Professional Development of Young Scientists in Interdisciplinary Research of Innovative Surfaces and Materials (MIPoMat)&quot;, two lectures by guest lecturers on the topic of superresolution will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016 in the hall of the III wing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\"><strong>Prof. Theo Lasser: Seeing is believing (Voir est saVoir)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">This talk is an invitation for a walk into tissue structure and function and cell and subcellular organelles (see image aside). Relying on coherent imaging techniques we will try to see &quot;diabetes&quot;, to look into the brain for Alzheimer&#039;s disease and we will finish our walk with novel insights on the cellular level based on SOFI, providing 3D and even 4D super-resolved images of living cells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">We will try to present the underlying optical concepts, and conclude with an outlook for imaging with applications in medicine and life sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\"><strong>Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Ra\u0111enovi\u0107: Single Molecule Localization Microscopy from Pretty Images to Powerful Quantitative Tool<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">Single Molecule Localization Microscopy (SMLM) and Atomic force microscopy (AFM) have the potential to resolve nanoscale structures on living cells. To obtain structural information from AFM together with functional information from SMLM we constructed a combined AFM\/SMLM microscope for correlated imaging of living cells.
